Dealing With Postponed Matches

Last Updated: 20 August 2016

Last season there was some confusion over what the procedure was when a match was postponed

The procedure is as follows

LEAGUE AND LEAGUE CUP MATCHES

When matches are postponed by the HOME team or the Referee for whatever reason, it is the HOME teams responsibility to give notice to the Competition Fixtures Secretary, the Competition Referees Appointments Secretary, the Fixtures Secretary/Secretary of the opposing Club and the match officials. In addition the Competition Assistant Referee’s (linesman’s) Appointment Secretary (only for matches for which official Assistant Referees are appointed) must be notified.

When the AWAY team is unable to fulfil a fixture for whatever reason, it is the AWAY teams responsibility to give notice to the Competition Fixtures Secretary, the Competition Referees Appointments Secretary, the Fixtures Secretary/Secretary of the opposing Club and the match officials. In addition the Competition Assistant Referee’s (linesman’s) Appointment Secretary (only for matches for which official Assistant Referees are appointed) must be notified.

In all of the above cases notification must be given to the above BY TELEPHONE and NOT by text or e-mail. If you cannot get an answer from the opposition Fixtures Secretary/Secretary, you must leave a message and request a call back to confirm receipt of the message. If you have been unable to contact the opponents Fixtures Secretary/Secretary in person, you should contact the opponents Team Manager.

COUNTY CUP AND ANGRAM TROPHY MATCHES

If you are the HOME team in either the County Cup or Anagram Records Trophy and the match is postponed for whatever reason, in addition to any notifications required by the Competition itself, it is the HOME teams responsibility to give notice to the League Fixtures Secretary, the League Referees Appointments Secretary, the League Assistant Referee’s (linesman’s) Appointment Secretary, the Secretary of the opposing Club and the match officials.

If your team are AWAY in either a County Cup or Anagram Records Trophy match against opposition from outside our League and the match is postponed for any reason, in addition to any notifications required by the Competition itself, it is the responsibility of the AWAY club to notify the E.O.F.L. Fixtures Secretary. This notification must be given by telephone.
