Friendly Round-Up: Saturday 20th July 2019

Another weekend means another load of pre-season games being played by our member sides. Here is what happened this weekend.

Alresford Colne Rangers 1-3 Galleywood
Division 1 side Galleywood managed a 3-1 victory over Alresford Colne Rangers.

AS Rawreth 1-5 Wakebury
Division 3 side Wakebury managed a 5-1 victory over Division 2 side AS Rawreth with the visitors goals coming from Kateley (x2), Hubbard (x2) and Buglione.

Basildon Town 3-1 AFC Barnston
Basildon Town continued their block of friendlies with a hard fought 3-1 victory over AFC Barnston courtesy of goals from Jamie Bradbourn, Keith King and an early contender for goal of the season from Barv Waikwaiku who having beaten three players hit a sreamer of a shot from fully 30 yards which went into the top corner of the goal. One of the spectators at the game was ex-Essex and England Cricketer Ronnie Irani who is sponsoring Barnston this season.

Basildon Town Reserves 2-5 Hullbridge Sports Reserves
Basildon Town Reserves lost 5-2 to Hullbridge Sports Reserves from the Essex Senior League Reserve Division who based on this performance look a good bet for honours this coming season. Levi Harbour scored both of Town’s goals.

Canning Town 0-1 Newbury Forest
Premier Division side Canning Town lost 1-0 to Eastern Senior League South side Newbury Forest.

Catholic United 2-4 May & Bakers
Premier Division side Catholic United lost 4-2 to Eastern Senior League South side May & Bakers. Catholic’s goals were scored from Tony Jacobs and Tom Hollingsworth.

Chingford Athletic 1-2 Springfield
Division 1 Chingford lost 2-1 to Premier division side Springfield with Joe Nathanson managing to score both goals for the visitors. Eric Kelly got the goal for Chingford.

Chingford Athletic Development 4-2 Sawbridgeworth Town Reserves
Chingford Development managed a 4-2 victory over Essex Senior League Reserve Division side Sawbridgeworth Town Reserves.

Frenford Reserves 2-0 Harold Wood Athletic Reserves
Division 2 side Harold Wood Athletic Reserves fell 2-0 to Essex Senior League Reserve Division side Frenford Reserves in their latest friendly.

Gas Rec 2-0 Rayleigh Town
Premier Division side Rayleigh Town fell 2-0 to Essex and Suffolk Border League side Gas Rec.

Halstead Town Reserves 2-5 Rayleigh Town Reserves
Division 1 side Rayleigh Town Reserves defeated Halstead Town Reserves 5-2 in their latest pre-season friendly. Lewis Lawrence (x2), Rodney Wilson (x2) and Jason Warner managed the goals for Town.

Hatfield Peverel 3-0 Springfield Reserves
Division 5 side Springfield Reserves lost 3-0 to Essex & Suffolk Border League side Hatfield Peverel in their latest friendly.

Hullbridge Sports A 1-2 Lakeside Reserves
Lakeside Reserves managed a 2-1 victory over Hullbridge Sports A in this all-Division 3 friendly encounter at Lower Road. Davison and Willis got the goals from the visitors.

Laindon Orient 8-0 Emerson United
Division 2 side Laindon Orient managed an 8-0 victory over Emerson United. The goals were scored by Ashley Blackburn (x2), Adam Cole (x2), Nick Godden, Tomiwa Adebayo-Bella, Lee Pellin and Tony Tuite.

Laindon Orient Reserves 1-1 Ecko Whitecaps
Division 4 side Laindon Orient Reserves managed a 1-1 draw with Ecko Whitecaps. Hayden Flint got the goal for Orient.

Leigh Town 2-2 Corinthians
This all-Division 2 friendly between Leigh Town and Corinthians ended in a 2-2 draw. Wilton and Brickwood managed the goals for Corinthians whilst Lewis Robson and Jordan Albany scored for Leigh Town.

Robert Hutchings-Spiller’s side lost 5-0 to Corinthians Reserves

Lymore Gardens 7-0 Canning Town Reserves
Division 4 side Canning Town Reserves fell to a 7-0 defeat at Essex Alliance League side Lymore Gardens.

May & Baker Reserves 3-4 Roydon
Roydon managed a 4-3 victory over May & Baker Reserves in this latest affair with the visitors goals coming from Lewis Page (x2), Lewis Watson and an own goal.

Old Barkabbyeans 4-0 Buckhurst Hill Reserves
Division 5 side Old Barkabbyeans managed a 4-0 victory over Division 3 side Buckhurst Hill Reserves in what appeared to be a bad day from the word go for the Hill Ressies despite them claiming it was their best pre-season game thus far. They were missing 7 players before losing two to injuries in the first half and coincidentally played with 10 men for 65 mins.

Ongar Town 1-5 Buckhurst Hill
Premier Division side Buckhurst Hill continued their fine pre-season preparations with a 5-1 victory over Ongar Town. Hill went 2-0 up following 35 minutes with Tyler and a Trialist getting the goals alongside Sam Sollosi.

Shoebury Town A-A Old Southendian Reserves (Scoreline 3-2 at ht)
Division 1 Shoebury Town welcomed Old Southendian Reserves in a friendly at Cupids Country Club which ended in abandonment following a short spell of heavy rain which ultimately saw the referee deem the pitch unplayable. But before that happened, Shoebury started the game off well by taking a short narrow lead early on in the first half before seeming to make it two. The Old Boys managed to claw one back in time before the hosts managed to grab a third of the game. The last main action of the half saw the Old Boys make it 3-2 before the rain took swing of the proceedings.

Shoebury Town B 4-4 Harold Wood Athletic Development
Jacob Roberts, Michael Clutterbuck, Tom Butler & Micheal Burton all scored for Harold Wood Athletic Development as the Division 5 side drew 4-4 with the Southend Borough Combination side at Cupids Country Club.

Sungate 7-1 Epping Town
Premier Division side Sungate hit seventh heaven as they defeated Division 2 newbies Epping Town 7-1 in their latest friendly today

Toby FC 3-0 CSM London
Toby struck 3 against Essex Alliance League side CSM London in their latest friendly today whilst Toby’s Reserves were away in Wales.

West Essex 1-1 Leigh Ramblers
Ramblers took on Essex Senior League side West Essex in their latest friendly. Wayne Seal’s side took the lead early on in the first half through Joe Hunter before Michael Mignot managed an equaliser for West Essex. The scoreline stayed the same in the 2nd half with Ramblers keeper Dylan Skinner winning man of the match for his performance according to West Essex.

White Ensign Reserves 3-1 Rayleigh Town B
Division 3 side White Ensign Reserves defeated Rayleigh Town B side in their latest friendly today.
