League & Friendlies Roundup: Saturday 10th August 2019

We had two Premier Division fixtures take place as the new campaign started alongside a few friendlies yesterday. Here is what happened.

Premier Division:
Canning Town 1-3 Leigh Ramblers
Wayne Seal’s Leigh Ramblers managed a 3-1 victory over Canning Town to put them at top spot of the Premier Division for a week at least. Jaime Selby-Knight and Andrew Webster got the goals for Ramblers.

Rayleigh Town 2-1 Bishops Stortford Swifts
Rayleigh Town began their new campaign by welcoming Bishops Stortford Swifts.
This game at London Road was understandably severely affected by the strong wind however the goal that made the difference was worthy of winning any game. The hosts took the lead midway through the first half with a strike from James Blewitt on 22 minutes with Stortford then levelling on the hour from the penalty spot through Chris Gibbs. Town then won it when a five man move of one touch passing was started and finished by Charlie Seadon in the 80th minute.
